Shadan Bankston, M.S., CMPCc

As a former Division I lacrosse player at Wofford College, I experienced firsthand the pressures, expectations, and mental challenges that come with competing at a high level. Athletics have been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember, and those experiences ultimately led me toward a career focused on helping athletes strengthen the mental side of performance.

I earned my B.S. in Psychology from Wofford College in 2024, where I discovered an opportunity to combine my interests in psychology, research, and athletics within the sport performance setting. Through both academic work and personal experience as an athlete, I became increasingly interested in how confidence, self-talk, motivation, anxiety, identity, and mental resilience influence performance and overall well-being.

In 2026, I earned my M.S. in Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology from Barry University. My graduate training emphasized evidence-based and theory-driven approaches to mental performance, allowing me to work with athletes from a variety of sports and competitive levels. Throughout this process, I developed a strong appreciation for integrating research with practical application to create individualized strategies that meet each athlete’s unique needs.

As a practitioner, my approach is collaborative, athlete-centered, and grounded in current research. I believe mental performance training should be both approachable and applicable to the real demands athletes face in training and competition. Whether an athlete is struggling with confidence, performance anxiety, injury recovery, perfectionism, role acceptance, focus, motivation, or consistency, my goal is to help them develop the psychological skills necessary to perform freely and confidently.

I am passionate about helping athletes navigate the mental obstacles that can arise on the field, court, pitch, track, or in the pool. At the core of my work is the belief that mental skills can be developed just like physical skills—with intentional practice, self-awareness, and the right support system. I strive to create an environment where athletes feel understood, challenged, and empowered to grow both within and beyond their sport.
